Exactly the same here (Norfolk), the ice was welded to the windows (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/shame.gif)

We are actually just looking at installing a Wood-burning Stove with a back burner to heat our radiators etc as oil prices have just gone up again and it is so expensive to heat the house (no mains supply here).

Something like this would be good.

Indeed even the de-icer didn't make a dent.  1st time i've bought de-icer in about 5 years (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/shame.gif)

you can get a rear exiting flue....our has one,[not used by us though,]
then the steel flue can be ran up the outside,.....i presume (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

my bro fitted a woodburner in his newbuild/barn conversion,
and had to have a firedamper in the s/s flue as it passes thru the roof, that was around 1k on its own...(http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/shame.gif)

Yeah I found it to be expensive and doesn't really work where you still have to make sure the wipers are free and keep them going or the screen ices back up.

I use cardboard on the windscreen so I just have to scrape the two front side windows and wing-mirrors. I wouldn't have to use the cardboard at all but my heated windscreen only works on one side (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/confused.gif)

Hate to say it but I saw -10.5 at 4:15am as I was leaving Birmingham airport after work. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/cold.gif)
Even worse got to just before junction 7a on the M42 and found 1 of my workmates broken down on the way to East Midlands, the van was freezing and had cut out, from what he said sounded like no anti freeze. So I got him to wait in my car till somebody came.

I find the de-icer in aerosols utter shite but the liquid stuff in spray bottles much better.

It lasts longer plus you get a better spread on the screen instead of a weak trail the aerosols leave . . . Plus, due to no propelant, the container doesn't get UBER cold and make your hands freeze !

No problem this morning

It was above freezing (just) when I left at 7.40 this morning - didn't even bother with de-icer - just a quick wipe with the scraper.

It's supposed to be milder for the next few days . . . . apparently.

major problems in Liverpool today - it rained onto the ice and compacted snow on the roads but it was only just over freezing so it froze the second it touched, resulting in a sheet of ice over everything.

traffic reporter on the radio said she had been doing traffic for many years and never known conditions so bad.

In Scotland the army have been drafted in to clear snow - they have had their most intense snow fall for 50 years..
