We bought Alex one of those from Beulieu a few years ago, although ours has chrome spoked wheels.
He's hardly ever used it and it's more of an ornament in the conservatory now.

I loved my pedal car when I was a kid (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/beavisnbutthead.gif)
Jensen seems drawn to things with wheels on . . . his favourite toys are a set of plastic cars my Mum brought.
So I'm hopeful.
If not, like you say, it'll make a good ornament. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/tongue.gif)

I'm thinking satin black with red steelies . . . . Sort out a simple interior, bit of insulation tape around the steering wheel . . . . maybe even hook up the lights . .

What about a fake shifter that is really tall - oversized, that can also act as a handle for you to push him along with and control in busy traffic areas? (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

Could do - but there's no floor. Would need cross-bracing. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/chiny.gif)
It's probably gonna need a motor, too, as he gets older. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

Being serious, you probably could with a little 2-stroke or a motor from a strimmer or something? (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/chiny.gif)

It's currently sitting in my office at work while I ponder what exactly I'm going to do with it.
Must admit, it's very good quality . . . . Better than I expected.
After watching a few on ebay I discovered that the older ones had spoked wheels that were harder wearing but more expensive . . . the manufacturer apparently decided to opt for the pressed-steel wheels (in the link at the top) that are cheaper but prone to buckling as they don't appear to have bearings. Hence I went for an older one. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/wink.gif)

Also the older ones have the plastic seat part which the new ones do not.

Had a look at the front lights and reckon it's possible to fit a bulb holder in there (something the size of a christmas tree light) and have looked at small red lights on ebay, too. Definately think I'll rig-up a simple lighting circuit for it - there's plenty of room "under the hood" for a battery box. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/up.gif)
It's now been de-stickered, too.
Colour will be satin black. D'uh.
Am considering fitting some zoomies - but that maybe a step too far. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/tongue.gif)
EDIT - I want to powder coat the wheels red, too, but it'll depend on whether I can remove the tyres or not . . .

Started trying to assemble the loom for this on saturday morning . . . got a few bits done until I got to the soldering bit . . . my iron's packed up so the loom ended there.
I did drill the holes for the new lights and loom last night and am attempting to get it into the powder coaters today . . .

I've test rigged the circuit on the previous page and it seems to work.
One thing, though, the lights are quite dim . . . is this a voltage issue or do I need better quality batteries (more mA) ?
Currently using 4 x previously used Duracell's and 4 x New Morrison own brand (but not value).
I don't want to blind people, but I do want them to be fairly bright. When I connected the battery pack to one bulb (the 5W one) it looked good, but once I connected both 5W ones it was dim. I didn't get round to connecting the rears but that will obviously effect it more.

HOLY $HIT ! - ONE OF THE DURACELL BATTERIES JUST EXPLODED !!! (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/shame.gif)
EDIT
A SECOND ONE JUST EXPLODED TOO !! (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/shame.gif)
I was just packing up for the night and heard a loudish "pop" - turned around and there was grey/white acid splattered all over the place. Cleaned it up and put the fizzing battery in the sink. Took all the batteries out of the battery box and a minute later the second duracell battery went the same way but this time nearly blew the entire (-) end off !!!
Both batteries are dated 2016 (and the circuit was switched off at the time) so am guessing they came in the same batch but I don't remember where they came from exactly . . . .
I thought at first it was just coincidence but with two going . . . . ?
All four of the cheapie ones appear fine and the other two duracells also dated 2016 are fine too.
Any ideas ???
They're still fizzing away.
A little concerning as this could've happened after Jensen got it !! (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/shame.gif)

Thinking about it I took these out of one of my wireless keyboards . . . is it possible that they were specific "original use" jobbies and this use was beyond them ?
The other two haven't popped, yet - I just checked them. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/chiny.gif)
Looks like it's eight NEW batteries to be on the safe side . . . . hopefully that'll sort the dim lights out, too, otherwise i'll be inundated with AA batteries I don't need !!!

Wow that isn't good to have one pop let alone 2 of them...god knows why they done that.... duracell should be good to last till the expiry so i doubt it was beyond them....but (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

I may still have some of those, and a charger and some mountings for them in my old (and very dead RC car), they're old but should be fine, i'll check with my mum & see if they've been thrown away, if they haven't they're yours for free

Much appreciated. A pack will certainly be easier to fix long-term . . . .
Good news, though . . . I tested the two remaining Duracells in a torch earlier and they didn't even light the bulb ! That made me think that they were definitely specific-use batteries. So I threw them away.
Brought some new Duracell "Ultras" at CostCo earlier . . . . .
VERY happy with that. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/beavisnbutthead.gif)
Just got to fit the battery box somewhere (not a clue atm) and solder in the last couple of wires . . . couple of finishing-off jobs after that and she's done . . . . I have a final, simple, finishing touch to add that I hope works as I plan.
Oh, and here's the second battery that exploded . . . It's not a good pic but you can make out that the (-) end has been blown almost entirely away from the casing . . . . And that's how I found it.

Have (so far) spent about 4 hours building a floor pan and bulkhead to keep Jensen out of the moving parts until he's big enough . . . . Amazing what you can find in a well stocked rollcab. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/up.gif)
Also fitted the horn and mounted the battery box and fitted a battery retaining strap . . . . Just got two solder joints to make and insulate and then the wiring is done . . . . In fact . . It's finished.
Nearly.
There's a couple of little bits I still want to do . . . one depends on the postman and the other on whether there's a pinstriper at Billing next weekend . . .
Pics to follow.
