Does a 2-phase and 3-phase welder plug into 240 mains as well or are they hard wired? (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/huh.gif)
you can use some 3phase as single phase, on a 13amp plug,
but for the higher settings they will pull 15 amps plus..
i suspect mine can be 3 phase...(http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/chiny.gif)
So.
Whatcha making ? (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/snacking.gif)

If you did want to run a 3-phase welder as a 3-phase, how is it done? (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/huh.gif)
What I mean is, is there a different connection like the 110V mains connectors? (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)

you connect it to 3 phases...(http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/tongue.gif)
or as a single you use 1 phase and a neutral...
Three phase connector (but then you have to have a three phase supply and you only really get that on commercial premises...:

Aha, that's what I was wondering! (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/thumbsup.gif)
Next question, why are there 5 connections? I would have thought it would be 4: 1 for each phase and 1 neutral (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/dunce.gif)
One per phase
One neutral
One earth...(http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/wink.gif)
Although you don't always need a neutral with some three phase equipment..

RK, it's your turn now........... (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/pokey.gif)
I need a refund then, as my bottles only got 20lt in it (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/down.gif)
Gas may occupy 5,000 litres of volume when released into the atmosphere, but clearly, under pressure, it's not 5,000 litres as it's in liquid form so is a fraction of that.
It's like saying that a full kettle holds 3,000 litres of steam . . . technically it does but there's other factors involved.

its a 20l bottle,... the amount of gas is considerably more (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/wink.gif)

But the bottle doesn't contain gas (ie. a gaseous form) it contains a liquid (and not 5,000 litres of liquid). (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/tongue.gif)

so... at the average
gas flow rate of 10 lpm, when welding, ..
you would have run out in 2 minutes (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/confused.gif)

I've got mine set higher than that as I'm welding outside - 12-15 depending on the wind.
here she is with the gas bottle,
