The GMC has OBD1 diagonostics , had the service engine light come on in Blackpool (http://www.aaci-beds.co.uk/forum/smileys/mad.gif)
Ran like shite ( limp home mode ? ) for a couple of miles until I turned it off , waited and then restarted it and the light went out.
It's proving hard to find a reasonably price OBD1 reader , loads cheap OBD2's but 1's are pricey ( £125 ).
My question is if I go the old paper clip route , will it still show what the fault was even though the light has re-set ?
I have a reader don't know what type it is though... will let you know
us autootive have one mate - normaly dont charge for a scan either..
yes, using the paper clip method will show the code, simply because it is stored in the ECU untill it is wiped, either by re setting the ECU (dosconnecting for 30 seconds or longer) or by resetting via a proper code scanner.
obd1 scanners are pricey because they are different for each vehicle. OBDII standardised everything..
