yup, they are 12 / 21 watt
the 12w is the origional (amber) side light, and 21 is the indicator
interestingly, there is a black box on the jap spec cars that turns the side light off while the indicator is flashing, so instead of flashing bright dim bright dim, it flashes bright off bright off, then the side light comes back on a couple of seconds after the indicator is switched off

Quoting: ianjpage
Yeah and i really worry about the legality of these tbh - hence why i disconnected mine and my mates...would suggest you do yours mate!
i checked it out, and the answer is simple, but an un nesicary PITA to impliment....
you can have amber running lights, provided they are suplimented with white side lights. if these running lights are in the indicstor, there is no specific law that says they cant be turned off while the indicator is flashing, to give a more definate flash..
unfortunaltey, to tap straight off the running light and add a white side light, would mean that the side light would also extinguish as the indicator flashed... thats a no no
easiest legal answer is to disconnect the box, and to splice into the running light wire, and add a white side light in the headlight.
this will come on as side lights and running lights together (legal) but the downside is that you get the bright dim bright dim indicator rather than the on off on off that the box provides..
this is exactly as my camaro was wired, and is letter of the law legal.. this is what i will do with the mustang..
to avoid drilling the headlights though, i' gonna check the legeslation for side light heights, and if possible fit them in the blanking plates where fog lights would sit if it had them.

A cone filter in the engine bay is a hot air intake.
Anything which ducts the air in from outside the engine bay is cold air.

i've always found usless automotive to excell at one thing; service items..
spak plugs are normaly hella cheap from them, a set for the camaro worked out at just over £2 per plug, and somehow they are able to sell oil filters cheaper than pep boys or autozone in the US!
very few places will stock US spark plugs, as they are generaly the tiny ones, that dont fit anything european or jap.

makes you wonder, most of the time they dont even bother to look into it. Thankfully we have people like carl who are happy to help out
not really, but i can kinda see thier point...
why bother driving to the post office, checking and weighing it, then quoting a price, when they will probably only ship 2 or 3 a year tops....
just not worth the effort on something that small... HOWEVER... offer to chip the guy an extra $10 and they might make an exception, simply because its more than its going to cost them..

You dont need to go anywhere near the damn post office, USPS website works it all for you less than 5 mons work, its a sad fact that most americans are just damn lazy. Having spent almost 2 years trying to start a business in the USA i can tell you its not just individuals but most companies as well. No wonder the US gets its a$$ handed to it on a plate by the far east. Sorry carl and any other americans but thats the facts as i have found and agreed by my business partnser who is american

I drilled a hole, then filed two notches out to accept the original bulb holders . . . The plastic on the new ones is thinner (no surprise) so the "O" ring seal doesn't seal as good - but it's as good as it's gonna get.

I'd just be wary (sp) of the back spaces.
Late Yank motors got more "European" in there wheel back-spaces . . . that is they steered away from the "deep dish" type of rims and increased the axle width . . going (generally) from negative to positive backspacing.
Anyway I can find out?
WHEEL 05 MUSTANG V6 STYLE 17 X 9 BLACK 94/04
05 Mustang V6 Style Wheel, 17" x 9", Black for 1994-2004 Mustang.
One of the greatest styling cues on the '05 Mustang came from the V6. These large Halibrand-style wheel fits 94-04 Mustang & 79-93 with 5-lug conversion. Black center cap with silver pinstripes is included. The factory correct cap will fit this wheel.
Specifications:
- +24mm offset
- 5-Lug
- 5 x 4-1/2" Bolt Pattern.
Kinda Suggests the wheels are the same 94-04
One thing the auction doesn't say is the rim width.
I'd guess it was 8" - which means 1" wider then yours.
If the offset from the centre line is the same that mean they'd be 1/2" closer to the inside the the body and would stick out 1/2" more.
That said if it was an issue a 6mm spacer would solve that . . .

Although spacing it if the offset is correct will put the steering geometry out.... If the center offset is the same then it's best not to space it from that point of view...

After looking at Philo's and Chris's side by side today I would agree, it looks good with the wheels filling the arches (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/cool.gif)
i think the drop is just a bit too much for me.. if i could find something thats half way between stock and chris's it would be perfect..
the exhaust however is 100% spot on what i'd want, quiet idle, with a gorgeous mellow but notable deep tone when revved..
has to rate as one of the most agreeable tones i've heard in a LONG time, it actually sounds expensive!!! like something that should come from an aston martin or maserati!

Went ok. Needed some fine adjustment around the fuel tank, to stop it rattleing and the nut & bolt they give you for the rear mount is wrong (you can't get a nut on the back and the hole isn't threaded)....dean can explain better.
Well the Mustang was opposite my house this afty and sounded rather fine, even just above idle. Very nice...

They probably ARE all the same part, different manufacturers.
I'd opt for AC delco, personally . . . that said there's two AC delcos.
Try clicking "more info" - if that doesn't help - try googling the AC delco pt #'s to find out the differences.
Motorcraft seem to have an affiliation with Ford - Maybe go for that one ?

Question on brakes.
Need new disks as mine are a little warped.
Going for EBC ones as price is reasonable.
As I have to get pads (annoying as the ones I have are only a few months old) I was looking at the EBC red stuff pads
Opinions?
about £20 more than The cheapy no name brand but are they worth it?
im not keen on the red's, i hear they need a lot of heat before they work well.
what setup have you got on the front at the mo ?

im not keen on the red's, i hear they need a lot of heat before they work well.
thats probably not a problem on the mustang around MK, I cooked my brakes several times (once following my brothers fully loaded mercedes E class diesel estate!!!), keeping them cool is more of a challenge..
what setup have you got on the front at the mo ?
Original disks (probably) & standard pads.
you'd do VERY well to upgrade to the cobra setup, its a cheap bolt on replacement, and the callipers are FAR better !

Ah bugger. Is it the daily car then?
Yup
EBC yellow stuff works well on mine. Need a little warming up in the morning, but after a couple of normal stops they're great.
Yellow is a bit hardcore for mine. I think the street ones should be more than adequate.
I think the entry level are greens aren't they ?
Yeah green is lighter vehicles sub 200bhp. kit cars etc.
I'm not over 200bhp but she weighs a fair amount. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/chiny.gif)
i'm right on the edge of what greens can do, but they to work well on mine, but i've got the benefit of mach larger brakes than the stang, stopping a slightly lighter car. so lower brake temps in general
315mm disks, brembo 4 pots stopping 1495kg with 220 bhp.
You're probably best just ordering oem ones from rock auto
I'll check the ones on the car. literally a couple of months old so there can't be that much wear.
Small update.
Discs were changed a few weeks ago. Much better! The car doesn't try and shake its self apart when I brake now!
This week the Badge decals turned up so fitted that, did an oil change and finally got round to replacing the 02 sensor (cheers Titsy for helping with that)

No I bought an Air Hog filter back from the states.
Update
Well as some may know the Mustang failed its MOT last week.
The cursed headlights strike again!! Fortunately I had already ordered a stock set from the states on order to refurbish my aftermarket ones.
So fitted those last night (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/wink.gif)
They actually don't look so bad without the cataracts...
Also failed on not having a rear fog light....I disconnected that five years ago (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/confused.gif)
I preferred to have it as the 3rd brake light.
Anyway I reconnected it and shoved some diodes in there, so that I could have it as a fog light while still keeping it as a brake light (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/cool.gif)
Retest at 16:00 (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/crossed.gif)
Next purchase will be some front fog lights. I had a look and the connectors are there for the lights the GT version gets. So in theory will be easy peasy to fit (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/up.gif)
Also if I decide to keep the stock lights, some white/clear indicator housings as I don't like the orange bits and they are a little cataract.
Also, finally getting the front and rear bumper repaired next week.

Taxed, washed and driven for the first time this year.. Hopefully get out a bit more than last year as this should be the year she gets replace with a V8
Got anything in mind as a replacement ?
Keeping my eye out for a late 90's early 00's Mustang, Camaro or Trans-am.. Any of those would do but I think I'd prefer the Trans-am or Mustang (facelift version of mine).
All going well I should have around £6k to play with by the tail end of the season. Maybe a bit more but it depends what I get for the Stang and Mondeo..

You're selling the Mustang and Mondeo ?
Are you using the Yank as a daily, then ?
Nah I'll probably get a company car.
Assuming my Mondey lasts that long, let me know what you're after as a replacement for mine is imminent. Really imminent ! :sofa:

Will do.
Sailed through her MOT! Hopefully get a change to give it a good wash, polish and drive tomorrow... then up on eBay..
Got my eye on this among others..

Looks nice
From someone who's loving his new toy it's nice to have a V8 Chris, it looks very mean.
Nice looking stang
Yeah, manual too. That one will probably be gone by the time I'm ready as I feel it prudent to pass my 3 month probation at work before splashing cash on a yank.. Also I would want to sell the current mustang first. But that's the kind of thing I'm looking out for. There's no hurry though I'm happy to wait for something "perfect" and the longer I wait the more cash I save!
I'm surprised you're not looking at something older and more interesting - 60's/70's ? - as you've got the space and will have a company car . . . seems logical to me.
The Mustangs are fine and are sensible but any yank I've driven built during or after the mid-nineties has really lacked any . . . . soul ? . . . Like the majority of cars built during or after the mid-nineties, I suppose . . . Look great, perform well but lack anything else.

Sorry Incursus, but I have to agree. :yup:
You like what you like and cannot help that (I mean look at me with old crappy VW Buses), so if that era of Mustangs really give you a chubby, then awesome, if it makes you happy, go for it. :cowboy:
However, as RK says, if it is something American you want, that has power and is fairly unique on the road, there must be other vehicles you would consider? :pass:
None of my business of course, but I would be interested to know what it is with that model that you like?
I see what you're saying, and my wife agrees with you guys, but the issue I have, aside from the cost of a late 60's early 70's Mopar (full on chubby mode engaged) is it just won't fit in the garage, even empty the mustang will just about fit.. even that may need a roller shutter.. (operation garage clear out is scheduled for this summer, need to build/buy a large shed first.)
So long term, yes a garage extension and a classic Mopar is the plan but in the short term I want some V8 action that won't rust.. Doesn't have to be a Mustang either.
So we have a shopping list lads:
- Small American
- V8
- Lowish Purchase Cost
What can we find? :chiny: :ebayanim:
Okay, not a V8, but it is small (for a Truck):

:pokey:
Very nice.. Doesn't look that short though.. Gotta be a V8 😉

Just over 187 inches so a few inches longer than the Mustang, garage is 16'.

I can sell you the best V8 4th gen Z28 Camaro with the best history of any car you will ever find, along with an actual shed full of spares Inc F Body Z28 reg for £8K. She just doesn't get driven enough and I need the space for my current project.

I guess it would also fit into a normal garage.

Almost tempting but couldn't do it justice, also a little over what I would want to spend on a "modern" yank. £6k would pretty much be my limit.

Nope, a smidge over 16' according to Wikipedia.. :NEW_shame:
What do you folks know about C3 Corvette's? :chiny:
Would fit..just and seem to go for around £10k..

Can't say I'm a fan of Corvettes unless they are the 50's ones, but for size and practicality would be a good choice, we had to consider garage size too.
C3's are good . . . . as long as it's a early chrome-bumper version. The later ones are alright but a bit more plastic looking.
They do suffer from rust to the frames and cockpit cage (which is near impossible to fix, apparently) but generally the mechanics and electrics are pretty simple and straight forward.
Although a big-block, 4-speed would be cool, I reckon that'd more like £20k, so look for a nice, simple 350 auto.

Bah, nothing is impossible, perhaps a lot of work, but not impossible! :mechanic2: A good point worth noting if you are going to view any C3s though.
O.K, it's possible, but you have to take basically EVERY panel off the car to get to it !!! :sofa:
Sorry :ORIG-slap:
:Pedantic:

Yeah ok... agreed... and yet again Katie agrees.. might need to keep saving for a while longer.. :can:
I've put the Mustang to bed for the Winter, also treated her to a new battery as couldn't get enough charge in it to start her for the short journey into the garage, been nursing it all year to be fair. This one actually fits as well!
On the plus side fits with plenty of space. I will give her a quick wash :polish: tomorrow and turn her around so that she's nose to the door, in case there's any issues starting in the spring.

Keep changing my mind but now thinking to keep the Mustang another year or so and keep saving for a dream car.. Ideally a 70-74 Plymouth Barracuda as it will fit in the garage. Either that or one of Roadkill's "20 ways to extend a garage".. 😁
Though if a really tasty A-Body turns up I could also be tempted with that..
Oh yes this would do nicely..

Feeling guilty..think I've only opened the garage door once since she went in...
Off work next week so hope to have her out and ready to tax and test for the new season.
Hope the new battery survived the neglect..
Just can't believe how quickly the last 6 months have passed!

I didn't realise that was an error... ;)
Well I took her out for a quick spin on Sunday and she's not firing on all cylinders (yes I know there were already 2 missing 😋).
Not changed the leads for 6-7 years and not changed the plugs since the first major service, not long after buying her..so I'll start there

Sounds like a good starting point, here's hoping it solves the issue.
Rockauto still the place for parts these days? Ordering HT leads and plugs.
I use Summit quite a bit, too, as the shipping's good but either for stock parts . . .

Yeah used them for the camaro - have a look around as usual a 5-10% discount code somewhere!
Make sure you have a play with quantities and different makes as this really does have a big effect on shipping costs!
Bits ordered, should be here this week. MOT booked for the 7th so hopefully get it sorted by then..

Sounds good, bet it'll be good to have her sorted :)
Spent the morning changing plugs and leads, certainly sounds like she's running better, hopefully get time for a proper test drive tomorrow.
Seems to have done the trick
MOT passed
Sold!
I will start looking for the replacement next Spring / Summer.
Sad to see her go but at the same time excited for the next one.
It got good money, though - just caught the auction as it ended.
Yeah more than I expected. 😁
