As a perk with the job I've got my bosses black Audi R8 for the whole weekend!
Shame there's no meet as I could have brought it along and had some fun with Baz's Viper!
Will post some pics here shortly.
I actually quite like the look of those.

.
That's it.
That's about the most praise I can give a modern car, dammit !

I see one on a car transporter this morning, and i must say it was wraped up in material printed with R8 rather than the usual white sticky stuff you see on the other cars
You ba$tard. (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/devil.gif)

Well thank feck for that
Even more reason to get one.
Looks good from the front, the different coloured middle bit looks right wank though, like a dodgy cut'n shut TT.
Supposed to be a good car, don't know too much about them though.
Really quicker than a Viper in a straight line though???

Well I can safely say I'm here and in one piece!
My boss wouldn't let me turn of the traction control or even water it down, and I read they you can spin them even in the midway setting as it's pretty much all power to the rear.
I know the car is pretty much as far removed from the ethos of the MKB club as you can get, but anyone with an ounce of super unleaded running through their veins would have had as much fun as i did with it.
Knowing you can flat out cream 99.9% of the cars on the road if you want to is a load of fun. This car gets to 100mph in under 10 secs and runs a quarter in 12.9.
The margin by which I destroyed a 3.2 Audi TT on the A507 was hilarious.
The noise (from the outside at least) is fantastic, and the car gathers stares like no other. I pulled into the Shell garage near the Airport to fuel up and got several thumbs up from Fiesta ST and Corsa drivers.
Sadly the weather prevented any assaults on really fast speeds, although I managed a quick 145mph run between roundabouts on the A507 with a mate who damn near soiled himself.

There is A bright red one on one of these 'best of the best' stands in Heathrow, it looks terrible in that colour,
But black rocks (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/beavisnbutthead.gif)

It's got a V8 ? (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/dontknow.gif)
And it is pretty cool.
Yep it's got a V8 alright, but the similarities end at 8 cylinders in a V formation!
My mate who has an S3 posts on a performance Audi message board, where there are already reported sightings of a black R8 in North Herts over the weekend.
Co-incidence?
Probably not seeing as how slowly they are making them. I've only seen one other so far, and it was on the A3 coming out of Portsmouth and it was silver.

When i went with my dad to the storage company that he kept the TR6 at they had 60 there waiting to be delivered to customers
is it wise to put ya mug shot , reg number, locations and reports of high speed pursuits on the net....? (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/wink.gif)

i seem to recall the TT having high speed handling woes when it was launched too! they used to spin out and roll with no warning...
the A5 looks nice, but tiptronic boxes are pants in all forms, manual or a proper auto please..

i know its apples and oranges, but as an illustration on how fast bikes really are, every bike in the MKB clan would paste that and spit it out the other side! even the 19 year old 'ol dutchess' GPz 550 (12.6 1/4 mile)
You guys have bikes?!?!?!?
I'm not knocking bikes as I know how fast they are, but the R8 and any other supercar has presence.
oh definatley, but i cant afford one....
i can afford a bike! (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/tongue.gif) plus even in a fast car, you are kinda de sensitised from your surroundings, on a bike you are part of them (especially hedges in cranfield!)
audi have really got their act together, the A5 new TT and R8 all look fantastic!
the A5 really is my kind of car, as is *hides in shame* the BMW 6 series (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/shame.gif)

Great car. S5 is even better (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/beavisnbutthead.gif)
The A5 / S5 are great looking cars (and well built as always).
Apparently the handling isn't up to the 3 Series coupe though, although I expect the RS5 to change that!
