A while ago I said about asking to Hold one of these doo-dads at my house later in the year when my mum & stepdad go on holiday.
I asked last night & I'm pretty sure it will be fine, they go away on June 17th for 2 weeks, now this 1st weekend is a show weekend (not sure which one but we'll all be at bling regardless!)
So I'm proposing "LF2" for the weekend of 24th & 25th June, & I'd imagine it would mainly be Battlefield 2 again.
What do people think?
It's the SummerNats the first w/e, Cuh, N00b. (http://www.aaci-beds.co.uk/forum/smileys/smirk.gif)
Yeah, sounds good . . . not normally up for them in Summer but as it's local should be fine . . .
Possibly have this one as a Sat-Sun one instead of a Fri-Sun one though.
(Unless we watch some DVD's on the Friday night, then start playing on Sat morning . . . . . My brain was cooked by Sunday last time.)

I was thinking a similar thing TBH I was Bettled out by the sunday. Its a good job I didn;t have to drive home too!!! especially as I fell asleep in the van on the way home.
I'm up for a Film night followed by a Games Day / night.

Problem is BF2 keep releasing patches which makes creating mods difficult, they often only work with a particluar version of BF
I will try and come to this one, although the timing isn't too good for me. Will put out feelers at home, see if I get shot down or not.
Why not go retro? - Quake 2 was cool and had some excellent mods available.
Although my preference would be vanilla Q3, I was a demon on that.
Or there's Half Life 2 as well... not sure if that can have bots though
Or by then Unreal Tournament 2007 will be out, that has Brilliant Bots + you still get the vehicles!
(But then people have to buy it...)

Also a good graphics card is important for BF2.
Minimum requirements:
Windows XP
1.7GHz Intel Celeron D/ Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP/ Sempron or greater
512MB RAM
8x speed DVD drive
2.3 GB free hard drive space
DirectX 9.0c compatible Video Card with 128MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets:
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater
ATI Radeon 8500 or greater
DirectX 9.0c compatible Sound Card
And you'll have a lovely 400mb+ patch to download when you install it... Lucky you!

The BF2 Lanfest 2 only 4 weeks away!
I was speaking to Ian briefly yesterday about this and he can supply all the "Communications" equipment we need for this, so all everyone needs to bring will be their PCs & themselves & any specific Munchies you want. Everything will also be running through a 108mbps wireless router too so if anyone needs that its there
He is also looking to see if he has something we could use as a Dedicated Server (You get more setup options for BF2 if its run this way)
I need to double check numbers too, I currently have

I was planning mainly BF2 but am open to suggestions for other games. I've got Worms 4... thats a good game (http://mkb-cc.yanksrule.co.uk//Forum/smileys/up.gif)

Community Update - 4/25/06
Attention Soldiers!
Although the 1.3 patch is still being worked on we wanted to provide a peek at what you can expect with the coming release:
NEW FEATURES
Co-op: Co-op Mode allows you to play Single Player levels on the Internet and LAN with both AI controlled bots and human players. Several new options have been created that will allow the server creator to modify how the bots behave in game.
Air dropped vehicles: Squad members can now send a request up the chain of command for a vehicle to be dropped at their location.
full thing here...
http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/battlefield 2/us/editorial.jsp?src=communityupdate_042506I doubt this will be released in time for the LAN, but its what we want tbh!
Yeah BUT there is a way of setting up co-op with bots multiplayer!!

"This mod strives to turn the battlefields of BF2 into racetracks. You can jump into DPVs on various racetracks (some new, some actually based on BF2 maps) and race! A big new feature in 1.2 is the stats system. On 'Battleracer Ranked' servers, the results of your races are uploaded to a website where you can keep track of your accomplishments and records. Soon we will also organize tournaments for racers, complete with fully automated scoring.
Six tracks are included in this release - two each from Karkand, Mashtuur, and Seaside Raceway. Later on we will release additional maps. "
that sounds like fun
never having modded BF2 do these things mess up you're installs or are they separate entities?

Can you mix a LAN and WAN game?
Also, it's not the same playing in a room/house full of others playing. There's no atmosphere on your own.
Besides - it's not just for the gaming.
