Going down to Buckingham Palace on Friday morning so suddenly remembered that I need to pay the congestion charge
So went onto the TFL website which seems to have been designed by chance
I've tried every method of payment from credit card to SMS Text and dispite registering the dam website just stalls before payment and say's loading
So is this the new policy, you can't actually pay the charge so they win one of two ways
You don't drive into central London or they sting you for £150 non payment fine

I ain't getting on no Train

Only if you want it to work

Just tried by phone, would you like to register Sir ?
No thanks all I want to do is pay for Friday 27th July, sorry you can only pay for today unless you register -

So after the arguement he spends 10 minutes taking all my details inc credit card etc to held on there secure server just so that I can pay

May be that's the idea, just make it so ucking difficult we give any idea of driving

They are wanting to put congestion charges in Cambridge now.
That's all well and good, except there isn't any practical, cheaper alternative.

A lot of the city accommodation is taken up by people who can't afford to live in London, so commute from Cambridge.
The locals therefore can't afford to live locally. When you're out in the villages, the only other option is buses, which are pants. And cost more.

Technically, I _could_ cycle down the A14 but even I'm not that suicidal.

Jo

So tru I got the bus from our village to Cambridge one way last night and it was £1.60, then if I'd needed to go to work I'd have to pay another £2 to get the bus from city centre to my work.  So you would be looking at £7.20 a day,
or £36 a week

Allanv

if they bring it in i will have to pay £670 PER WEEK to get to Swindon from Bristol

If they follow the trend set by TFL then they will increase the cost of public transport after introducing a congestion charge.
Then, when they increase the congestion charge (as soon as they legally can) within a month or so they will increase the ticket prices of publiuc transport.

A single tube ticket in London to travel between 2 stations in zone 1 (central London) is £4 if you pay cash on the day.
The shortest joureny between 2 stations is I believe Covent Garden to Leicester Square.  At £4 that means it costs more per metre to travel by tube than it does in a private jet.  (it actually does, someone workd it out).

Fieldy

I used to live 10mins from Knightsbridge, I love that area.....

I don't find the tube expensive if you have an Oyster card
