Interesting

I defiantly want to run two of these, one facing the rear and one facing the front, when the bus is on the road.

There are loads of cheap dash cams out there and this model sells anywhere from £17 to £120 depending who you buy it from

When it arrives next week I'll see how well it works and put some recorded video up

If it's any good, I may well order another two for the other cars

The scammers are now targeting young drivers, because all the Insurance Companys say how bad there are, so it has to be their fault right

Andy

Been thinking of getting one of these, but maybe something a bit smaller. I don't want the attention of anyone in the car (or outside) to be honest.

This model or a very similar twin was being sold in a tooling catalogue at work for fleet vehicles, think it was about £50.

There was another twin cam model that also recording location and GPS.

The only thing I got warned about, is as much as these can work in your favour, they can also work against you if you're keen on a bit of the faster driving.

Useful...

something a bit smalle

Yes, I would not want to alert people to the camera, I would rather have it as evidence to give to the insurance without them knowing.

OK so first impressions

It's tiny :

Very light weight, but also very flimsy, you won't want to drop it

http://s29.photobucket.com/user/fbody007/media/HD%20Dash%20Camera/IMAG1092_zps8fe991c5.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

The instructions are in Pigeon English but the kids figured it out
Window mounting bracket is good, adjusting every which way :

http://s29.photobucket.com/user/fbody007/media/HD%20Dash%20Camera/IMAG1093_zpsb3aa5c8c.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

The power lead is about 2m long

http://s29.photobucket.com/user/fbody007/media/HD%20Dash%20Camera/IMAG1094_zps6cd278aa.jpg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">

It kept freeze until Rosa figured out how to format the SD card

Menu's are a little clunky and the menu instructions useless, there refer to an OK button, but in reality its just a button with a round white spot on it

It has a loop function set to a maximum of 10mins, continuous function of auto movement detection function.

Shown in car :

Records with the screen shut making it quite discreet

Just been for a trip round the block in the rain in 1080p mode, going to upload now

F Body

Upload menu was pretty much automatic, plugged in the lead clicked on Youtube and it showed me the four video's right away

You Tube is saying 14 mins to upload a two min video

I'll be back with you shortly ( Not you ArtB )

F Body

OK the moment of truth is here, very dull conditions, some headlights and rain should give us a good idea of the quality

NB : An 8gb SD card seems gives 1hr 25mins of recording time at 1080p ( max size is 32gb ) That would give approx over 5 hours continuous recording

The advantage of a ten minute loop is it will always be easy to find any bits you want to upload

Nice of the Micra to pull over without indicating, but if something happened at that point, I am sure they would say "I was indicating", then you can whip the video out and BAM! No you weren't YOU ******* ****! - just an example, the Micra was not that bad.

This is funny, as this topic has just come up on my friends facebook wall, but not for cars, but cyclists. He apparently nearly got knocked off his bike the other day on a roundabout. Because of that, he went all out to say how he now getting a helmet cam and plans on naming and shaming drivers.

I really shouldn't have got involved but I said to him before you start naming and shaming drivers how about you consider your own position on the road, how you act and whether you're following the highway code correctly. Also how many of these cyclist cameras themselves are being safe or courteous. Anyway, I won the argument in the end as he admits he goes through red lights and sees nothing wrong with it if nothing is coming. Dick.

Anyway, random rant, not aimed at anyone, but I can see DVR being the normal but ending up showing more about the driver with it fitted than, about others around you.

Would move that flippy flappy thing off the dash, bit distracting...

What you really want is one of these... isn't it Steve

What I really wanted was a top of the range Go-Pro with all the fixings so I could use it on my motorcycle, bicycle and outside cars etc.
But they are £300+

The only other thing to check is what the picture quality is like in very bright sunshine, some cheap cameras bleed the colours, but darker half light is usually the main problem area

Anyway for £17 I'm impressed enough to buy another, with the long power lead you could have one front and one back ( don't think I'll bother ). I have bought several bargin priced things on E-Gay and then found out that either the price jumps up, or they are no longer stocked about a week later

WTF. Was she trying to get run over or just attempting an insurance scam?

It's a good job he had that camera, otherwise she could have said he hit her as she was innocently crossing the road.

Nah, as long as you do not drive like a pr1ck, I am sure it would be much more valuable as evidence against others than catching you out for the occasional JUSTIFIED undertaking of a middle-lane hogger or something.
