You read it right, a few VW buyers got caught up in the "Barrett-Jackson experience" while they were bidding on this immaculate 23 window Bus at the company's annual Orange County auction last night.

When the smoke cleared a high bid of $198,000 had purchased the 1963 Volkswagen you see here ($217,800 after buyer's fees)

A 18-screen Samba in need of restoration = around £8k
A full rebuild / nut + bolt restoration = £20k
Scene Tax = £5k

Wow, pretty expensive bus... Bet the guy who built it was happy!

Slightly OT, but saves starting a new thread, saw a bunch of buses out on a drive yesterday, in convoy. One stuck in my head as it was orange and had a massive '75' printed on the spare wheel at the front with a black stripe going down it. Anything special or was it just the year it was made.

Shortly after saw a pukka '65-'66 'stang that I gave a thumbs up to and promptly got one back, also drove past Andy's house (by accident) but boy can you tell an American car nut lives there!!
